Vanguard Replacement Helideck
– 7th June 2013
The Vanguard Helideck being part of a “Life Extension” Project for one of the UK’s aging Southern North Sea gas production platforms was loaded out Saturday 11th May 2013, in preparation for installation.
The structure was designed by Sembmarine SLP to include replacement utilities systems comprising of diesel and water storage, and to incorporate the latest helideck safety systems to CAP 437 regulations. The replacement structure comprises a steel frame supporting an aluminium helideck with a total weight of 72 tonnes - lighter than the original structure which was removed from the platform earlier. Replacement access stairs were constructed in aluminium and fitted by our Offshore Team.
The helideck was successfully installed on-board the platform on the evening of Saturday 11th May 2013 with Hook-up operations on-going. Managing Director, Paul Thomson said “This is a great achievement despite the weather delays. The focus has been maintained to deliver the helideck and complete the installation at the earliest opportunity. The final completion stage is equally important and to achieve the handover of an operational helideck to the client safely and as expeditiously as possible without production delays remains the target.”.
