Sembmarine SLP Ltd Hold First Wellbeing Week
– 3rd July 2017
From 26th to 30th June the first Sembmarine SLP Wellbeing Week took place. Organised by the Human Resources Department the event was designed to promote the physical and mental health and wellbeing of all Sembmarine SLP staff. Workshops, presentations, information and activities were available throughout the week focusing on quitting smoking, eating and sleeping well, drugs and alcohol awareness, the SLP health insurance and much more including free fruit!
Staff aged 40—74 were encouraged to take advantage of the Free NHS Health Checks offered which measures the risk of participants getting certain health problems such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease and information on how to prevent them. Approximately 20 people had a 20 minute health check which included taking blood pressure, having a blood test and answering questions about lifestyle then receiving personalised advice on how to lower the risk of the health problems mentioned above.
Charlie Frost, Human Resources Manager, said: “If we encouraged one person to give up smoking or sign up to the gym then we have made a difference to someone’s health and wellbeing. We hope to run another wellbeing week in the future following the success of the event, the fruit certainly disappeared every day!”
