Sembmarine SLP Ltd goes ‘Green’ swapping its Diesel Van for Electric

– 1st June 2015

In June 2015 Sembmarine SLP Ltd (SLP) decided to replace their Ford Transit Connect van with a more environmentally friendly option.

The Towrite P1000 can carry 1000kgs payload, is operated by battery power and runs all week on a full charge.  The truck is totally road legal with no MOT required with a modest 0-20mph in 10 seconds and a top speed of 20mph.

Paul Cantwell, SLP Maintenance Manager, said: “At first the maintenance team needed some encouragement to use the truck and I wasn’t convinced either. Now I think it’s a great purchase and we are seeing the benefits of replacing our old vehicle with an electric alternative every day.”
